Coral cactus (Eurphorbia lactea Cristata) is a unique succulent plant that is actually a hybrid of two different cactus species. It is also sometimes known as the "mottled spurge" or "crested euphorbia".
The coral cactus has a fascinating appearance, with fan-like branches that are a bright coral pink color and have ruffled edges. The plant can grow up to 2 feet (60 cm) tall and wide. It is a slow-growing plant and can live for many years with proper care.
Like other succulents, coral cactus is relatively low-maintenance and is drought-tolerant. It prefers well-draining soil and bright, indirect sunlight. Like other members of the Euphorbia genus, Euphorbia lactea produces a milky sap that can be irritating to the skin and toxic if ingested. This sap is used in traditional medicine and in some cultures for ceremonial purposes. In cultivation, Euphorbia lactea is grown for its interesting and unusual form, as well as for its colorful and decorative appearance.
