The native habitat of this plant is India, Thailand, southern China, the Pacific Islands and Australia. In nature, it grows as an epiphyte, growing on the tree trunks under the leafy canopies. In warm weather, droplets of fragrant nectar appear on the flowers.
Its leaves are also decorative: dense dark green, smooth and shiny, oval in shape. They are. like the leaves of so many succulents, covered with a thin wax coating.
